Quotes, deposits & paperwork

How do I get a paving or landscaping quote in Leicester and Leicestershire?

The quickest way is to call 0116 239 2170 or use the contact form. Andy Rocks will talk through what you want, and if needed we arrange a visit to measure and discuss options. You'll always get costs in writing before work starts.

Do written quotes include VAT and waste removal?

Quotes spell out what is included: labour, materials, and typical disposal. If something might change (e.g. extra hardcore or tree roots), we flag it up front so there are no surprises.

Do you ask for a deposit before starting?

On larger jobs we sometimes take a staged payment to cover materials. The exact schedule is agreed when you accept the quote. Nothing hidden, and we never ask for full payment upfront before you've seen progress.

Can you price from photos and measurements I send?

Ballpark guidance over the phone or email is fine for rough budgets, but an accurate written quote for paving, fencing or a full garden usually needs a site visit, or very clear dimensions and access photos.

Areas we cover & travel

What areas do you cover for driveways and garden landscaping?

We're based around Leicester and work across Leicestershire and into the wider Midlands, including Leicester, Loughborough, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Hinckley and beyond. If you're unsure, ring 0116 239 2170 and we'll say straight away if the travel works.

Do you take on small jobs as well as full garden makeovers?

Yes. From resetting a few paving slabs or a short fence run to full redesigns, we match the crew and time to the job. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so rather than shoehorn it in.

Do you work through winter?

Yes. Andy Rocks works twelve months of the year where weather and ground conditions allow. Some finishes need dry, frost-free windows; we'll schedule those stages sensibly.

Planning permission, boundaries & regulations

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway or patio?

Many domestic drives and patios are permitted development, but rules vary, especially for front gardens, dropped kerbs and impermeable surfacing over certain sizes. We build to your agreed design; where needed we point you to your local planning team or we'd work with drawings your designer supplies.

What about fences over 2 metres high?

Taller fences and some boundary treatments can need planning consent depending on location and neighbours. We'll discuss heights on site and you can confirm requirements with Leicester City Council or your district council if you're outside the city boundary.

Do you handle party wall or neighbour notices?

We can advise practically (access, scaffold, shared boundaries) but formal party wall paperwork is usually between you and a surveyor. We're happy to liaise politely with neighbours on site timing and noise.

On site: access, mess & timelines

How disruptive is replacing a driveway or patio?

Expect excavation, dust and vehicle movements for a short period. We'll barrier off work areas where we can and sweep at the end of each day. Timelines depend on size and weather; your quote outlines typical stages.

Will you protect my lawn and pathways?

We use boards and sensible routes wherever possible and discuss access before we start. If something is fragile, tell us and we'll factor it into how we move plant and materials.

What happens if it rains during paving or concreting?

Some tasks pause in heavy rain to protect finishes and warranty. We'd rather lose a day than lay into standing water, and we'll communicate schedule shifts as early as practical.

Aftercare, weeds & longevity

How long should block paving last if it's done properly?

With a decent sub-base, good edge restraint and correct jointing, a domestic drive commonly gives many years of service. Routine sweeping, occasional re-sanding of joints and spot weed control extend that further, and we can quote for periodic maintenance.

Do you guarantee your workmanship?

We stand behind the way we install: groundworks, drainage, posts and paving structure. Manufacturer warranties apply where we supply branded products. Specific assurances tied to your project are summarised alongside your quote.

Can you maintain a garden you've landscaped for me?

Yes. We offer ongoing garden maintenance (hedges, lawns, paving tidy-ups). It's the same crew ethos: familiar with how your outdoor space was built.

Common searches we hear a lot

Who lays Indian sandstone patios near Leicester?

ROCKS Landscaping supplies and lays natural sandstone and other pavers across Leicestershire. We discuss slip resistance, sealing options and edging so the patio suits how you'll use it.

Resin-bound driveway vs block paving, which is better in the Midlands freeze-thaw?

Both can work well if installed correctly. Block paving is repairable slab-by-slab and familiar for SuDS-friendly options; resin-bound needs specialist installation and curing conditions. We'll recommend based on slope, drainage and how you'll use the space.

How much does garden landscaping cost UK (rough guide)?

Costs swing wildly by size, waste, access and specification. Small tidy-ups versus five figures for major remodelling with walls, paving and specimen planting isn't unusual. Always get written quotes tailored to your ground, not headline internet averages.

Eco-friendly paving and SuDS-compliant driveways, do you install them?

Yes. We can propose permeable block systems and aggregate solutions that support sustainable drainage where your site and planners allow.
